TRAC

Integrated Trend Display and Powerful KPI Engine Enhances Data Relevance.

TRAC is a powerful KPI generator with an integrated graphics engine, flexible trending visualization tool and OPC compliant server. The KPI engine calculates specified performance metrics based on alarms, events and operator actions which can then also be served as OPC-HDA items to compliant third-party systems such as historians. TRAC is a standards-based, thin-client tool accessed through a web browser which supports both real-time and historical process, KPI, alarm and event data for comprehensive visualization.

✔ Contextual Analysis

Supports combined trending of process data with alarm and event data to give a complete, contextualized view of upsets
or incidents.

✔ Pinpoint Review of Alarm and Event Records

Can create any query to view specific record types.

✔ Alarm Performance Benchmarking

Enables plotting of specified metrics of alarm performance against expected targets for on-going benchmark analysis.

✔ Flexible KPI Calculations

Easily configurable, user-defined KPI calculations based on alarms, events and operator actions.

✔ Standards Based Solution

Leverages standard technologies by employing Microsoft® SQL Server®, OPC-HDA, and any commonly-used web browser.

✔ Robust KPI Server and Client

KPI calculations are broadcasts as OPC-HDA items enabling utilization in other systems, TRAC can also function as an
OPC-HDA server capable of trending third-party OPC-HDA items.

✔ Improves Operational Insight

Enables holistic view of operational data to add context and increase understanding of process performance.

✔ Enhances Diagnostic Capability

Flexibility to view both real-time and historical process data, alarms, and KPIs supporting quicker identification of root causes for process upsets.

✔ Optimizes Performance

Supports extensive KPI calculations and archiving for long-term historical performance monitoring and optimization efforts.

✔ Minimizes Total Cost of Ownership

Reduces total cost of ownership and minimizes maintenance requirements by leveraging standards based technologies and interfaces.

TRAC is a powerful KPI server and client with a flexible trending display and the ability to integrate with historical process data.

TRAC trends data from any OPC-HDA data source. TRAC can plot trends from an OPC-HDA enabled process historian, or it’s included, OPC-HDA compliant KPI server. TRAC can also plot alarms and events as bars along the lower portion of the graph. Trends may be overlaid or stacked in any combination and allow options for trendline design, colors, and smoothing.

All trends and bars plotted on a TRAC graph are chronologically aligned to show relative activity. TRAC can be used with a single category of data, for example as a KPI dashboard or an alarm activity graph, or with multiple categories of data, such as a combination of process and alarm trends.

Graphic Display

The graphing engine displays interactive trends and bar charts within a standard web browser. Alarm or event KPIs or process data are chronologically aligned and placed on the graph as stacked or overlaid line trends. Alarm and event totals can also be placed along the lower portion of the graph as a bar chart.

KPI Server and Client

The integrated KPI server calculates user-defined performance metrics and broadcasts them using OPC-HDA. Since the TRAC graphing client is OPC-HDA compliant, KPIs can be displayed as trends within the standard TRAC interface, or used with any other OPC-HDA compliant system such as ExperTune’s PlantTriage®.

Historian Integration

TRAC simplifies the process of researching batch variances and upsets by combining process historian data with alarms and events onto one interactive graph. The integrated data allows visualization and evaluation of alarm and event activity in line with process data trends. A Relative Time feature shows a visual indication of a root cause event, such as an equipment failure or batch start.

Key Uses for TRAC

  • Create, view, and share alarm and event KPIs
  • Diagnose unscheduled shutdowns or incidents
  • Review batches for variances and create thorough variance reports
  • Visualize how process variances affect alarm activity

Unique TRAC Features

  • Clickable, zoom capable chart interface
  • Dynamically synchronized data grid
  • Data can be plotted by point or tag, area, unit, or any other criteria
  • Drill down to specific event or actual process values
  • Shares configurations and criteria from other LogMate® modules

Benchmark And Monitor Alarm Performance

Plot actual alarm activity against performance targets

Tracking alarm performance allows you to see whether the situation is improving. The LogMate® trending package enables you to plot any measure of alarm performance against an expected target. Performance trends can be for a single unit, an entire site, or across an enterprise. LogMate® easily scales from a single engineer’s performance toolkit to a corporate alarm performance dashboard.

  • Track actual alarm performance against expectations
  • View alarm data at the plant or enterprise level

Real-Time And Incident Forensics

Combine process and event trends for effective incident review

When reviewing an upset or incident, it may be difficult to pinpoint exactly what has occurred using only alarm data or process historian trends:

  • If no alarm activated, why not? Did the sensor never reach the alarm activation point?
  • If the alarm did activate, is it not set correctly?
  • How much further did the measurement pass beyond the alarm point?

LogMate® can combine process trends with alarm and event data on one screen for accurate contextual analysis of an upset or incident. Combined data is displayed in a commonly-used browser, so it is easily accessible by the assessment team.
